Ego Lemos is an artist, songwriter, permaculture practitioner, and community development worker from Dili, East Timor. In 2000 he founded the country’s first permaculture centre, PERMATIL. He also founded a highly successful sustainable agriculture network, HASATIL, and Permaculture Youth Movement, PERMA-YOUTH. His work focuses on sustainable development that provides training for farmers, community groups and students on how to protect, manage and utilise land and the environment in order to improve livelihoods. Ego speaks regularly at international conferences of his experiences, and shares his thoughts on permaculture-based revitalisation in communities all over the world.

Currently he is the appointed national adviser for the Minister of Education of EastTimor and has been assigned the task of designing a national permaculture school garden.
