Stephen possess practical work experience with MDGs localization and implementation in Tanzania, and in the last 5 years he has been actively engaged in shaping the Rio+20 process, and in the consultations and negotiations for the Post 2015 Development Agenda at national, regional and global levels.

He is an active member of civil society movements on sustainable development in Africa and globally including: CSOs High Level Group to champion the implementation of Agenda 2030; Interim African CSOs Technical Committee to oversee the institutionalization of Civil Society and other Stakeholders in Africa; Africa CSOs Working Group-AWG; African Roundtable on Sustainable Consumption and Production; Pan-African Climate Justice Alliance; Africa Philanthropic Foundation; and Tanzania national SDGs civil society platform.

Stephen was also the Africa regional coordinator for Beyond 2015 Campaign, a global civil society campaign that pushed for a strong and legitimate successor framework to the Millennium Development Goals, and positioned CSOs to play an active and meaningful role in national implementation of Agenda 2030 and SDGs.
