Programme

Conference format

We will begin with a special segment dedicated to partnerships and mutual learning opportunities between countries including the contributions by non-state stakeholders.
Starting with a keynote from German Minister of Food and Agriculture, Christian Schmidt, the second day opening will set the stage for 8 dialogue forums to discuss natural resources and sustainable consumption and production from a Nexus perspective. I.e. we will discuss under the themes of food security and nutrition, climate, energy, land governance, water and resource efficiency to describe the crucial role natural resources play for the achievement of the SDGs. These fora build on the research conducted by the IASS, Institute for Advanced Sustainability Studies, in the context of the Renewable Resources and SDGs forum. The last day will be dedicated to drawing considerations for the German context and what Germany’s role can be in the global achievement of the SDGs. In the closing segment, the conference chairs will present some preliminary conclusions of the debates for discussion with the participants and distinguished commentators.

The conference will be held in English. We will however also have simultaneous German translations for the keynotes and plenaries. Please note that all the dialogue sessions will be held in English.
